Is the Digital Nomad Visa in Bali Still Worth It in 2026?
Published October 3, 2026
Bali remains one of the most searched digital-nomad destinations in the world, but 2026 brought new visa clarifications, higher demand and rising rents. If you are weighing a working holiday here, here is what recent reports and local sources say.
The visa routes people actually use in 2026
Indonesia's tourism ministry and multiple news reports confirm that the B211A social-cultural visa remains the main long-stay option for remote workers. It is commonly described as a 60-day visa extendable up to 180 days, while a dedicated five-year digital-nomad visa is still under discussion. Traveller forums also mention visa-run patterns, but those carry their own timing and entry-risk considerations.
Where digital nomads actually live
Canggu, Ubud and Seminyak still dominate coworking and cafe culture, but 2026 reports also mention growing demand in North Bali and Sidemen for people who want quieter bases. Prices in Canggu rose noticeably after 2022 and many guides now recommend locking in monthly accommodation early.
Internet, cafes and work setups
Cafes with strong Wi-Fi are easy to find in main hubs, but backup internet matters during rainy-season outages. Long-stay travellers commonly mention a home internet package or mobile hotspot as essential, not optional.
The local trade-off most blogs skip
Higher demand from remote workers has pushed up rents and changed village atmospheres in popular areas. Several Bali-based commentators in 2026 say the experience is still strong, but increasingly depends on choosing the right neighbourhood and season.
